TULIP EXIBITION IN MOZIRSKI GAJ March 30th – May 5th every day, all day

Visit Mozirski Gaj during this beautiful spring season and take a stroll among thousands of colorful tulips of various kinds. Along the way, you can also admire blooming pansies, daisies, hellebores, forget-me-nots, snowdrops, and other heralds of spring.

PALM SUNDAY, April 13th

In Ljubno ob Savinji, the blessing of the famous Palm Sunday Ljubno potice—bundles that reflect the local community’s connection with faith, wood, and farming—takes place in front of the parish church every year. Ljubno potice got their name from bundles that were once made of better bread or pastries and greenery. By the late 19th century, it had become a tradition in Ljubno for young men to compete to bring the largest and heaviest potica for the Palm Sunday blessing.

JULY

FESTIVAL OF BEER, GIN AND CULINARY DELIGHTS, Mozirje, July 12

On Saturday, July 12, the popular Savinja Beer Fest will return to Mozirje – a festival of beer, gin, and gastronomy, considered one of the largest events of its kind in the region. Numerous Slovenian microbreweries will present their craft beers at the Mozirje fairground, alongside distillers offering select Slovenian and international gins. The event will be enriched with delicious food and an entertaining program for the whole family. Admission is free.

SOLČAVA DAYS – Solčava, July 25–27, 2025

Since 1992, Solčavsko has come alive every year at the end of July. Friendly locals prepare a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages. The program features various exhibitions about Solčava’s heritage, guided hiking and cycling tours, visits to natural wonders, concerts, fun games, and a vibrant village market.

AUGUST

FLOSARSKI BAL – Ljubno ob Savinji, August 1–3, 2025

Flosarski bal in Ljubno ob Savinji is one of the oldest and most recognizable events in Slovenia, celebrating the rich tradition of timber rafting on the Savinja River since 1961. This year, the event will take place from August 1 to 3, 2025. The festival offers a vibrant program for all generations. Highlights include demonstrations of traditional timber harvesting, a raft float down the Savinja River, and the symbolic "christening" of a young raftsman – representing the passing of knowledge and customs from one generation to the next. Visitors can also enjoy concerts, workshops, sports activities, and culinary delights from the Upper Savinja Valley.

LUČKI DNEVI – Luče, August 7–10, 2025

The event offers a diverse program that includes demonstrations of traditional farm work, exhibitions, concerts, and various cultural and sports activities. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the rich ethnological and cultural heritage of Luče. Lučki dnevi is more than just entertainment – it’s a celebration of heritage, a chance to preserve tradition, and an opportunity for socializing and enjoyment in the pleasant surroundings by the Savinja River.

EXOTIC ANIMAL EXIBITION IN MOZIRSKI GAJ, August 14th. – August 17th, all day

All exotic animal lovers, especially snake enthusiasts, will be in for a treat – in the park, you will have the chance to see stunning pythons up close and even touch them. In addition to snakes, there will be exotic birds, giant tortoises, and a special insect corner.

Children can make their visit even more exciting with a Treasure Hunt, where they will collect stamps and learn more about both the park and the animals. Meanwhile, parents can explore stalls featuring local artisans and entrepreneurs.

SHEPHERDS’ FESTIVAL – Šmihel nad Mozirjem, August 17, 2025

The Shepherds’ Festival in Šmihel nad Mozirjem is a traditional event that has preserved the heritage of sheep farming and rural life in the Upper Savinja Valley for over 45 years. Held every year on the third weekend of August, it brings together all generations to celebrate local culture and customs.

ŠTRUKLJIFEST, Rečica ob Savinji, August 31st

The Music and Gastronomy Festival combines traditional and modern Slovenian music with a rich selection of locally handmade štruklji, aiming to bring our culture closer to a younger audience, foreign guests, and remind us that we, as Slovenians, have much to showcase in Europe.

SEPTEMBER

EXHIBITION OF PUMPKINS AND AUTUMN FLOWERS, Mozirski gaj, September 15 – October 5

This year's exhibition will once again showcase an impressive display of giant pumpkins, adorning the park and captivating visitors with their immense size and unusual shapes. On September 20, a competition for the heaviest pumpkin in Slovenia will take place. In addition to pumpkins, you will also be able to admire stunning arrangements of autumn flowers, filling the flower beds with warmth and vibrant colors to brighten up the cooler days.

NOVEMBER and DECEMBER

Christmas Fairytale of Slovenia, Mozirski gaj, November 29, 2025 – January 4, 2026

In December, Mozirski gaj shines in all its magical glory. This year, as many as 1.9 million lights will create stunning figures and illuminate flower beds, ethnological structures, and other exhibits in a variety of colors. Visitors will have the chance to share their New Year's wishes with Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, and fairy-tale elves while experiencing the true magic of the festive season. When the landscape is covered in snow, the atmosphere becomes even more enchanting.

The Christmas Fairytale can be visited daily between 4 PM and 9 PM.
