Twenty-five years ago, we started quite modestly: a village pastureland that was already used for camping in 1980. The basic infrastructure along the Savinja River was arranged by the former owner, Jože Borštnar. Due to the events of 1991, the camp was closed. It was put up for sale and found a new owner, Jure Kolenc, in 2000. The abandoned camp needed to be cleaned up, renovated, and given new life.
The first five years brought modest but steady growth. Then we started adding mobile homes and by 2010, adventure parks, water sports, cycling... All this was soon noticed by travel agencies, which helped elevate Kamp Menina to a higher level — alongside the largest camps in Slovenia. Our Savinja River can almost compete with rafting on the Soča. And when it comes to beauty, Lake Bled, Bohinj, and even the Julian Alps hardly outshine our Savinja-Kamnik Alps .
We continued adding more and more activities. We started with rafting on the Savinja, and gradually expanded the offer to include an adventure park, kayaking, canyoning, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), mountain biking, and even a zipline.
Our camp also includes a spa area, offering guests a cozy corner for relaxation and winter pampering.
We realized that nature and activities satisfy even the most demanding guests.
You’ll also find mini-golf and cage football in the camp. Under our social tent, guests can play table tennis. We have large covered playgrounds where children can play when it rains or hide from the summer sun. Next to the playground is a huge sandbox.
During holidays, we organize children's animation, a family adventure weekend, and the autumn family jamboree.
In the summer, guests can refresh themselves in the Savinja River or our lake, directly from one of the camp’s beaches. A part of the lake is adapted for the youngest swimmers — with a children’s splash area.
In winter, when the lake freezes, it turns into a charming ice rink. Since the camp is open in winter too, we also offer cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and relaxation in heated cabins with jacuzzis and saunas.
In addition to spaces for tents and motorhomes, over the years we added mobile homes, glamping cabins, chalets, a hostel, and eco-houses with private jacuzzis, making the camp appealing even to guests seeking greater comfort.
The camp also features a restaurant, where guests can enjoy traditional Slovenian food, pizza, ice cream, or simply a cup of coffee.
The restaurant is also open to locals for celebrations, weekend lunches, or a romantic dinner.

The owners and the team have remained closely connected with the camp, personally ensuring a warm, homely atmosphere that guests truly appreciate. We’ve always created a friendly and welcoming relationship with our visitors, as shown by the many guests who happily return to us year after year.
We’re proud of our gmajna (village pastureland), which has become a true tourist paradise. Since the very beginning, we have taken care of nature and the animals around us, and placed great importance on preservation and protection.
The camp is still nestled among the trees and alongside the water, without major environmental disruptions.
We’re proud to be the first camp in Slovenia to receive the Green Key certificate.
Thanks to great promotion, excellent guest reviews, and partnerships with agencies in Slovenia and abroad, Kamp Menina has become popular among international guests — especially from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and in recent years, from the Czech Republic and Poland.
And finally — we’ve also become recognized within Slovenia itself .
In 25 years, a simple village pasture has become a true adventure village embraced by nature — a place with something for everyone: from young children, to adrenaline lovers, and even older guests who enjoy cycling through our beautiful valley surrounded by mountains.
We are happy and proud to see Kamp Menina grow in a warm and welcoming way. And with it, we grow together — the Kamp Menina team and you, our dear camp friends.
Let’s keep moving forward — with new experiences and added accommodations every year.
Welcome to (probably) the best camp in the world!
