Rain isn’t a reason to spend the day hidden away in a tent or camper. In fact, rainy days can be a great opportunity for a different kind of trip—a more relaxed one, enriched with culture and full of new experiences that you might not even notice in sunny weather.
If you're camping at Camp Menina, you're within reach of several interesting places that are perfect for a rainy day—especially those that offer shelter and fun for the whole family.

One of the most obvious, yet often overlooked options are museums. If you're interested in art and painting, the National Gallery in Ljubljana is the perfect place for you. Its permanent collection features Slovenian and European artworks from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The museum is also a very pleasant destination for a quiet visit as a couple. The Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra near Vrhnika is a true treasure trove of the history of technology and industry, hidden in a beautiful castle setting. Here, you can admire vintage cars, bicycles, airplanes, and even forestry machinery—enough interesting exhibits for both children and adults. If you're more into the history of everyday life, head to Celje, where the Museum of Recent History offers a rich collection of objects from the 20th century, including items from the childhood of our grandparents. It also features Herman's Den, the only children's museum in Slovenia.

The House of Experiments in Ljubljana is an interactive scientific adventure where both kids and adults can explore natural sciences, physics, and technology through play. Honestly, no one ever gets bored there.

If you're more in the mood for movement and action, indoor entertainment centers are a great choice. WOOP! Maribor and WOOP! Ljubljana offer a huge trampoline arena, virtual reality, and escape rooms. In Ljubljana, there's also indoor karting available. Not far from the WOOP! center in Ljubljana is the Citypark shopping center, where you can enjoy a good meal. Every Tuesday, they host creative workshops for children aged 4–10, and there's a children's playground where one hour of play is free.

Slightly closer to the campsite, the Citycenter Celje shopping mall features the indoor playroom Džungla Park. You can leave your kids in the care of the animators while you go shopping or enjoy a coffee, knowing your children are playing safely and happily. Right next to Citycenter Celje is Planet Tuš, where you can combine a movie, bowling, and shopping.

One of the most delightful places to spend a rainy day—especially for families with children—is Miško Knjižko Café in Celje. This unique spot blends culture and fun. Books, creative workshops, storytime hours, and a good coffee or warm cocoa create an environment where kids can happily immerse themselves, while parents take a moment to relax. The café is a small cultural world for curious minds and a cozy place for anyone looking to spend a rainy day in a different way.

For those looking to unwind and be pampered, spas are always a great option. Thermana Laško and Terme Olimia offer indoor pools, saunas, water slides, and wellness services that will delight both children and adults. For couples, we recommend the tranquil Rimske Terme. If you’d prefer to stay closer to the campsite, you can treat yourself to a massage and some warm peace in our SPA with jacuzzi.

Rain can be an invitation to a different kind of experience—slower-paced, but no less interesting. When nature around the campsite smells of fresh rain, when raindrops slide down the tent roof, and when the days slow down, it’s the perfect time to discover those corners of Slovenia that welcome us with warmth, knowledge, and fun.

From Camp Menina, the world is still full of possibilities, even in the rain. You just need to close the umbrella—and open your eyes.
